Think cancer and identify patients at risk.

think cancer

Lung cancer is the third most common cancer in the UK. Around 46,400 people are diagnosed with the disease every year. Despite being one of the most common and serious types of cancer, most patients will not display any signs or symptoms in the early stages.

In partnership with Macmillan, we've developed a Cancer Decision Support (CDS) tool to help identify patients with a risk (2% or higher) of lung cancer.

It doesn't stop there, though. The tool can also help identify patients at risk of other types of cancers too, including:

  • colorectal
  • oesophago-gastric
  • pancreatic
  • ovarian

Integrating directly with your Vision system, the tool displays risk indicator pop up alerts, data entry templates and practice reports to help you think cancer. The tool uses Read coded information in the patient record including symptoms and demographic data.

Think cancer, diagnose early and prevent disease

Thinking cancer can help to lead to early diagnosis and disease prevention. With high preventative rates for each of the cancers detectable by the tool, it aids clinical decision making, supporting the GP in deciding to refer the patient or request further diagnostic investigation.

Use the CDS tool to monitor patients at risk, invite the patient for reviews and take the appropriate action for the patient.
