England – Summary Care Record – Temporary Additional Information for Implied Consent

As per the letter sent to all practices by NHS Digital late last week, we have been instructed to temporarily widen the scope of the additional clinical data set included in Summary Care Record. This means that for patients whose current SCR consent preference is set to 'Implied consent for Core Summary Care Record Dataset upload' will have a Summary Care Record with additional information uploaded to the NHS Spine. All the remaining SCR consent preference options will continue to function as previously. Each practice will have to run the upload process and once this is done an auditable entry will be made in the patient’s record. Click here for more information.

This has only just been confirmed by NHS Digital and development work is underway. In light of the current circumstances and to help take the pressure off your workload, we will run the upload process for you. We will contact each practice in the coming weeks to make suitable arrangements for this.
